Spread this sweet taste...

Colossians 1:26-27 (New International Version)
26 The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

So as we move forward to the ACF Young Adults National Conference, we continue with our theme "The Salt." The verse in Colossians 1:26-27 is one of my favourite bible verses. It reminds me of a song I love to sing which goes something like this: "Christ in me, Christ in me, Christ in me the hope of glory, you are everything (be my everything)..." Indeed, because 'Christ is in us", we must continue to show others what having this sweet taste (Jesus, the salt...etc) in our lives is all about. How can we do this?
1. Prayer --> talking to God and asking him to show you the way
2. Bible Study --> how can we preach the word if we don't know what it says? I know that reading the bible can be tough for some of us (I have had this problem too). But, one of the ways I love to remember verses is through songs. I find that the tunes of melodies help me keep the word in my head. What about you?
3. Reaching out to your community through service --> whether it's weekly or monthly at a homeless shelter, park, school, anything --> show others the love of Christ
4. Social networking websites --> Twitter & Facebook.  I think one of the simpliest ways to share the gospel is online social networking sites. We can't deny that we go online at least more than once a day (I admit, I am an e-mail addict).
Let me share with you a quick story: So, one day, I put a bible verse on my gmail chat status (Gchat). One of my friends then began talking to me online. She really liked that verse (I forgot what that verse was) and began talking to me about how she had started going to church more often than before. I could tell that she wanted to talk to me because she just kept on telling me things that led her astray from Christ before (like dating a non-Christian guy, etc). While my bible verse that I posted may have spoken to her heart, I do know that she knows that she can always come to me to talk. She is actually my neighbour so I'm just a door step away (haha). It's very important to have a Christian community --> we can't walk this Jesus life alone.
5. Money --> While giving to our local Churches helps our Pastors & church leaders preach all through the ends of the earth, some of us may not even have money to give. There are many bible verses that mention giving an tithes (2 Corinthians 9:7 is one example). But, let me divert away from money real quick and turn to something else -->
Let me share with you a quick story about giving money to the poor:
One day, my two friends who are married were walking down the street. A homeless person stopped them and asked for money (I'm sure we have all experienced this). Thoughts began to run through their minds: "what do we do", "is this person actually going to us the money for good or will this person use it for evil", "we don't really have money to give". The couple decided that instead of giving money, they would do one simple thing: PRAY. Yes, right there on the street, the couple reached out their hands and prayed for them. The couple also invited them to visit their Church b/c their church was a very well known place for the homeless to seek help, get a meal, or just talk & meet a new friend.
Now, I don't know what eventually happened to this homeless person, but it isn't good to know that just for one day, one hour, one moment, this homeless person was able to experience the love of Christ? That's amazing...

Do you have any thoughts on how we can spread this sweet taste (good news) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Not just locally but abroad as well (perhaps through Mission trips). Please share & comment below.

The Salt

What does it mean to be The Salt of the earth?
Do you have stories or examples of you or some other person being the Salt?

Matthew 5:13 (What other scriptures support this?)

...If they say I love Jesus but they can't see my Jesus...
